Blogging isn’t easy but it is fun! It is one of those things that keep your mind going. Not only do you have to come up with content, but there is an entire social media universe that you have to navigate through. I have learned a lot over the past two years but still continue to learn. It never gets boring. Now that I have started my own blog, I want to share with you the tools that have helped me along the way.
I purchased the first edition of this book back in 2014. I already had a blog I was working on and found this book to be so useful. I was immediately able to make improvements.
Since starting my own blog Fortynista, Abby has upgraded her book with more useful tips and tools for the blogger. So, of course, I had to get the upgrade. This book is very clear cut How-To book for me. It includes everything you need to know if you already have a blog or if you are just starting out.
What you can expect are clear instructions on what has worked for Abby and how she took her little craft blog and turned it into a massive business. You also get to hear advice from other veteran bloggers who have also monetised their blog. The package includes a pdf binder for you to write out all your ideas, make plans, goals and objectives, password page (so useful!), and much more. Things you would not even think about like income tracking pages or a social media stat page to keep track of your improvements. I have found this useful in watching my own blog grow and identifying areas for improvement.
This sort of book is not a one time read. I use it daily for reference. There is also a private Facebook page specifically for Building a Framework bloggers. A great growth tool to have at your fingertips. Abby gives all of aspiring bloggers inspiration and hope. If you are interested and want more information, click here.
I am super happy to be an affiliate of this program which means I make a small commission if you decide to purchase of this book.
Images and Photo editing:
Initially I preferred PicMonkey but these days I am using Canva a lot more. With Canva I can set the image pixels to match the WordPress theme requirements without too much messing around.
Who doesn’t love free stuff. Right? Especially when everything costs something. One of my favourite places to pull photos from is Unsplash.com. Unfortunately for me they don’t have a lot of fitness photos, but still the photos are amazing. Have a look through, select a photo and see how creative you can get!
Podcasts have become one of my new favourite thing in recent months. I listen to podcasts whenever I get the chance – whether I am out on a solo run, in the car or cooking in the kitchen. When I was between blogs and trying to figure out what to do next I started listening to the following podcasts. I found them very useful in deciding what to do next.
Problogger Podcast with Darren Rowse. One of my favourite podcasts!!! I love his style and can listen to him speak all day. He really comes across as genuine. I didn’t know much about him before I started listening to his podcast but he is the man behind Digital Photography School – which is a successful global website that has been helping photographers take better photos since 2006. After the success of Digital Photography school, he started sharing what he learned and created Problogger. His podcasts are informative and useful. Highly recommend.
The Learning Curve Podcast with Nicholla Henderson Hall. This is not a blog specific podcast but rather interviews with successful business women in the GCC region. I have included this in my list because this was the first podcast I ever started listening to. It introduced me into a world of knowledge that podcasts have to offer. When you visit the website, there are alot of useful tools for entrepreneurs which come in handy for blogging. Listening to the stories of inspirational women in business always inspires and motivates me, so this one is worth a listen. If you live in the GCC region – you may even know some of the women on the podcast.
